Be in the Moment with Your Kids
We took a family trip to Okracoke in 2016. Three generations in one house but the best moments were one-on-one.
I love my son so much. He’s so funny and clever and genuinely fun to be around. He and I got away together yesterday. (“Yesterday” being March 29th, 2016.) Daddy and baby were sleeping and the golf cart was free so we dashed away on it for adventures.
We stopped at The Slushy Stand for a cone. As we sat in the golf cart enjoying it, I said to Xavier, “Right now.”
He said, “What?”
I said, “Right now. This moment. You and me. Together. In a golf cart. On an island, sitting in the sun, eating ice cream. Right now. This moment.”
Getting kids and especially Xavier to realize that the moment is now, not the next thing but NOW. He did realize that that moment was really awesome. It wasn’t a BIG thing we were doing. It was a small thing and honestly, aren’t those the best moments?
